About the Artist

Born in Ohio, lived for a few years in Florida, and grew up in Minnesota. Beginning in high school, I spent much of my free time with various artistic and mathematical endeavors. When not doing my own study of the Golden Mean or prime numbers, I did freehand drawing, played piano and guitar, as well as did a lot of digital art. Starting with Paint Shop Pro, and Rhino 3D, later Photoshop, Lightwave and After Effects, as well as photography and electronic music composition, I did a lot of self-taught artwork over the years.

Ultimately, I thought it was time I put my skills to use. I also decided that I wanted more than to re-learn tools I already knew, but instead to learn even more about the filmmaking process in general. I opted for a film degree, and graduated salutatorian from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL.

After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles with my now wife, Melissa, to put our skills to use in the entertainment industry. After some fits and starts doing the odd editing gig, I eventually was tapped to assist the visual effects team on a low-budget indie horror film, Growth. With all my prior visual effects and post production experience, I showed an aptitude for compositing, which is where I've been ever since.

After spending 9 years in Los Angeles, working for a handful of different companies, and being involved in a wide variety of projects in that time, our little family decided to up stakes and move to Albuquerque, NM so my wife could work as an Assistant Director. I had planned to find a new career to pivot into, but stumbled into doing VFX work here as well. After spending some time doing graphic design work for on set playback, and some freelance work, I was tapped to work with Crafty Apes when they opened an office here.

Three enjoyable years working for Crafty Apes was cut short by the fallout of the 2023 WGA and SAG strikes, causing Crafty to close their Albuquerque location. Now when I don't have a freelance gig to work on, I am typically just a house dad, taking care of our two children while my wife works, and that's okay with me.
